Do you know where your legislator’s pay went?
January 27th, 2009 by Kenneth Burns

The Baltimore Sun says that as much as a third of state legislators have gave their pay beck to the state.
When news of the furloughs on state employees happened Senate President Thomas Mike Miller (D-Dist. 27) encouraged lawmakers to give back five days worth of pay back to the state in a show of solidarity. Some lawmakers refused to participate saying that the state has a shoddy record when it comes to fiscal management and opted to donate the pay to charity.
Keep in mind the $100,000 being raised through this is a drop in the bucket, when you compare it to the state’s operating budget, which is at $14 billion dollars currently.
