The New Year’s Edition of the Carnival of Maryland, also known as issue No. 23, is being hosted by the kind folks at Inside Charm City. Maryland Politics Today is a member of the Maryland Bloggers Alliance, a network of blogs in and about the Free State.
Maryland Politics Today is featured in the 13th Edition of the Carnival of Maryland. This one taking place at the aptly, but questionably titled, Maryland Politics which is referred to on this website as Red Maryland.
It’s also a featured carnival this weekend.
Greetings and welcome to Maryland Politics Today, which presents the Carnival of Maryland, 12th edition. This is a sentimental one for me because it will be the last big event held in the cyberworld of the current Burns Media Centre. I am moving this week, which means that the BMC is moving. Lest I forget, it’s a very BIG move. More on that at the end, but in the mean time, here is what bloggers across the land of pleasant living are talking about…
David W. Keelan from the Howard County Maryland Blog presents What’s the rush tell me what is happening?. The rush he is referring to is Howard County Executive Ken Ulman’s push to pass a series of green laws.
Kevin E. Dayhoff from his blog Soundtrack Division of Old Silent Movies presents Lady Bird Johnson – Steel Magnolia, Kevin says ” There are many reasons to celebrate the life and accomplishments of this steel magnolia of first ladies. Her husband was president at a tumultuous time in our nation’s history. For many younger readers, President Johnson’s term of office from November 22, 1963 – January 20, 1969 might very well be characterized as “ancient history,†but many of us baby boomers remember it well.”
Zinzindor at Leviathan Montgomery says that Big Brother Gets a Pair of Super Eyes. As seen in across the river in the commonwealth a few years ago, it’s best advised that you make sure that your tags are kept up if you travel and park in Montgomery County.
Dave Wissing from The Hedgehog Report presents How To Commit A Crime Without Being Punished. We know one of the ways is money, but this one will absolutely upset you if you have not heard already.
My fellow Prince Georgian from the other end of the county Joyce Dowling continues in her effort in Creating a Jubilee County: Prince George’s Co., MD. Her posting about the Historical Master Plan “Listening Session” is a must read for those of you in Prince George’s County, especially in the Southern part..
And while I have the platform…it’s PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY…don’t dare say P.G. County, but I digress.
Our favorite hon Wade Crodhil from Politics, Hon has been Catching Up With The Baltimore City Candidates. By the way, I think that Del. Jill Carter must have been reading my blog this week, because she has pulled a page out of the play book of Prince George’s County Executive Candidate Rushern Baker.
Michael Swartz from monoblogue says “Yes, I was on a rant and roll – but I think it’s time to rally OUR troops too.” More at Lesson learned? Too little and about 9 months too late.
Stan Modjesky who blogs at blogger1947.blog-city.com is wondering Do Politicians occupy a parallel universe? He has a bone to pick with his congressman over a canned response. You would think that the way his letter was written someone would have paid attention. Stan says ” even John Hinckley failed to get Reagan’s attention…
It would not be a Carnival of Maryland unless we mention the environment. The Ridger who blogs on The Greenbelt presents at the water which talks about visitors to the water in the College Park Metro/FDA park. Visitors I never even noticed when I lived in Adelphi. College Park station was my station of choice.
If it’s sports, it must be Soccer Dad who talks about Orioles pitcher Eric Bedard’s standard. He makes the case that Bedard is having a great season.
We have a submission from a blog that is a little more than two weeks old. Streiff from Maryland Politics questions the judgement of the Baltimore City Police in regards to crime fighting. Namely, the decision to focus on dog fighting as opposed to keeping the homicide rate from hitting three bills for the first time since 1999 (three bills = 300). By the way Streiff, I like the name of your blog. :-)
Last, but certainly not the least among us. The Pillage Idiot in his posting “Unequal treatment under law” explains why Gov. Martin O’Malley’s simplistic justification of progressive income tax rates doesn’t work.
And that’s the 12th edition of the Carnival of Maryland, coming to you from the Burns Media Centre in South Laurel, Prince George’s County. The last big event in my current location as I do the BIG move……….across the parking lot. The company managing Burns House gave me three choices. I took option one once I found out about the better amenities, such as a washer and dryer.
I would like to thank the Idiot who allowed me to host this edition of the Carnival and invite all bloggers in Maryland who write about this great state to submit your blog article for the next edition of Carnival Of Maryland, by using this link to the carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our Carnival of Maryland main page.
