Welcome to a New Year

January 4th, 2010 by Kenneth Burns

Welcome to a new year; but not just any year, but an election year in the great state of Maryland. ooooo

It will be an interesting legislative session coming up in the next couple of weeks; as well as an even more interesting election year.  Oviously we will share more as time goes on.

A few house keeping notes:

If you have a news tip or press release, email news-at-marylandpolitics-dot-us.

To reach me directly, email kennyburns-at-marylandpolitics-dot-us OR kburns-at-themdnews-dot-com.

I plan on bringing details of the first day of the legislative session on Wednesday, January 13.  I encourage you to follow the more than 600 people following this blog on twitter @mdpolitics.

And now, just like my Redskins, let’s start this year off with a clean slate.  Now that I have adjusted to university life (and I passed my general math credit) I can focus on my career. :-)

Let’s get it started…

Don’t call it a comeback…

November 18th, 2009 by Kenneth Burns

Don’t call it a hiatus either…well at least not a complete one.  Let me explain the inactivity.  A large part of it is due to the fact that I am now attending Towson University.  The other part is due to Comcast really gumming the works on my internet connection when I first moved to Baltimore.  The other problem is that I am a one-man operation.  So I am trying to now adjust that along wit the other things going on in my life.  In any event, Maryland Politics Today is not going anywhere.  That is a promise…unless I get a really big gig.  :-)

Now that I have got that out of the way, there is a big announcement concerning this blog, more organizational than anything.  More details to come soone officially.

OK, I know it’s been a while…

October 14th, 2009 by Kenneth Burns

Unfortunately there is more with this school thing than I thought.  I am not shutting down, I will continued forward, only in a modified sense.

Although I need to update this to reflect my academic career, I will still kindly remind you that:

You also might notice that there are minor lapses. There are two reasons behind this. First, I do have a paying day job, and depending on the schedule, I might not be able to work on this blog when I get home. The second reason is that there were no interesting developments to report on.

This is a little bit more than major, so I apologize for the lapse in coverage.  In case you are wondering, my first year at Towson is going well.  A few bumps, but nothing I cannot adjust for…no for the news.

Maryland Politics Today in the past year has not only doubled it’s audience, but at times tripled it.  Here is the latest stats through the end of January.

Maryland Politics Today in Annapolis

January 13th, 2009 by Kenneth Burns

I will be in Annapolis tomorrow for two reasons.  Reason number one, to celebrate my 28th birthday.  Reason number two is more important as far as this blog goes, I will be there covering the opening of the 2009 legislative session.  I will be twittering along throughout the day.  If you have not joined me on twitter, check out the link on the front page.  I will also provide a wrap up at the end of the day.

Maryland Politics Today reaching EVERYONE!

January 7th, 2009 by Kenneth Burns

Many people ask how many people reach Maryland Politics Today?  It’s a common question considering that I do not rely on any of the stat services like in the beginning.  Since MarylandPT has been on our own server space, I use the stats program provided by GlobalTap, the hosting company.  Here is the most current stats of my website from February of last year, through the first six days of 2009.  The way the program works,  each time a new month starts, an old month rolls off, hence why the stats in the acrobat file starts with February.  As you see, Maryland Politics Today is growing and has a bright outlook.
